Sri Raghavashram

Thiruppavai is a set of Tamil devotional religious hymns attributed to the female poet-saint Andal. She is Periyalvar's daughter. She was on complete fast, and bakthi for all the 30 days ( 'Paavai nonbu') during the month of 'Margazhi' (Dhanurmaasam) and composed 30 religious hymns at the age of 5, to attain Lord Ranganatha Perumal. Thirupavai consists of thirty stanzas (paasurams). This is the tenth pasuram sung in Ragam Thodi.Another girl who is keen on attaining salvation by observing pavai nonbu is also sleeping still although all her friends have assembled at her door. ANDAL castigates her for her lethargy and exhorts her to join them. “Oh beautiful girl who wants to enter heaven by observing the prescribed austerity, won’t you come out and open the door or at the least respond to our call? The lord whom we extol and who wears the fragrant tulasi garland on his head, long ago felled the demon KumbakarNan. Did that demon cede you the long sleep spell which he obtained from the gods? You are still tired and drowsy but you are a precious jewel among us. Please come and open the door with a clear mind”.
